Gamebattles ladders now open for fall season

This is the layout for this Saturday’s meeting and what issues we are dealing with at the moment. This may change but it will give everyone a good idea of what is going on behind the scenes.

In this meeting we need to discuss the upcoming EGM/EGL inter-clan tournaments and their relevance on the events of the next few months. We also have some important decisions to make.

First is the inter-clan Tournament. Until this week it was slated as a team vs. team, (4 vs. 4) tournament mostly for bragging rights. Recent developments have made it more than that and more complicated to set up and administrate.

First are the Team matches (4 vs. 4). We have already discussed the formation of these teams and set their formation in motion in many teams across EG. The winner and runner up of this tournament though not winning any prizes per se will have a very important role to play in the upcoming weeks. I will go into this later.

Second are the doubles teams. This is a new development. Each PAC team will have a 4 vs. 4 team and a doubles team plus 2 standbys each for a total of 10 players.

The Team and double team tournaments will be held on the same day. The tournament schedule depends on how may teams get enrolled for the tournament. For this we need to set a deadline as well as a tournament date so if any members need to make arrangements with work or friends or family to attend it can be done.

Once the tournaments are completed the winners and runners up of each tournament will be posted. The winning team and double team will become EG’s primary combat teams for online tournaments outside of EG. The runners up will become the stand-by team in the event one or more of the main team falls out for any reason.

Now many are asking why the changes to the tournament schedule? Why include EGM and EGL together?

The answer to that is simple. We need our best of the best in weeks to come and I will now explain why.

For any who have not yet heard the news or read my latest post in EG Battlegrounds, EG has thrown its hat into the MLG/Gamebattles online arena. We have 2 online ladder teams set up and waiting, One Clan team (4 member team) and one Doubles team. Both teams are set to enter the Gamebattles ladder matches. Now all we need are our best players to fill the rosters. That is where the Inter-clan tournaments come in. They will decide who goes in. Thing is it must be done quickly before they close new entries into the fall ladders. We can’t miss out on this.

Some have raised the issue of entry fees. We in the upper leadership have already discussed this and decided we will cover all entry fees. All our players have to do is show up for every match, fight and do EG proud.

Since the members are freed from the financial burden of enrollment fees and the clan is “investing” in the players some considerations will have to be made with winners of any tournament match in which cash winnings are the end prize.

EG will provide entry fees for any and all online ladders and tournaments in which organized EG PAC teams participate with the approval of the leadership in charge of overseeing tournament entries (EG Sage or EG DeathStrader). In the event there is a cash prize for winning the clan will be entitled to 50% of the winnings off the top. The remainder will be evenly split among the winning team. 50% may seem a little harsh to some but think about it, you, the members wont pay one cent to enter any EG sanctioned tournament or ladder. The members are out nothing but the time to play and if you win you still get a percentage of the winnings without any responsibility for coming up with entry fees. The clan takes it’s 50% and it will be used for future tournaments or to go back into the clan general fund for use on yearly awards for members, clan conferences, etc.

Next issue is tournaments for our lower level players, of which I am one. We have been fortunate enough to get in on the ground floor of a Halo 3 tournament site in which you pay a entry fee “wager” of 5, 10 or 20 dollars and set up online matches with teams all across the gaming community. The clan will also pay entry fees for these tournaments but the twist is even if we let the player have 50% of the winnings we will always come up short. This will have to be used as a means to help the clan fund grow. Instead of asking members for donations for the clan fund instead they can donate their time to fight on the site. The clan will handle the wager and keep the winnings. The people who run that site get 25% of the pot total so the clan would get 75% of the pot total to add to the clan fund for more matches or other clan related business. On this site you can choose your wager and also choose your skill level maximum. You can fight in the following brackets, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40, 40-50.

Since on this site it is more a multi round elimination than a full-blown tournament it can be completed in one afternoon. EG teams can enter as many times as they wish. There are 3 options for matches on that site. Lone Wolf, Team Slayer and Double Team.

All of what I mentioned is useless unless we can get our teams together and get members motivated to get more involved with the myriad of opportunities available within the EG community. With everything that is going on and all of the perks there is no reason anyone in EG should complain things are getting boring.
